About Us
1991 Founder Cr Joie Dwyer and coordinator Eileen Shepherd
In 1991, Joie Dwyer, a local community member who has since passed away, recognized the pressing need for family day care in Boonah. This initiative allowed parents to work with the peace of mind that their children were being well cared for, especially benefiting families with limited childcare options. Joie, alongside Coordinator Eileen Shepard (both pictured below), founded Boonah & District Family Day Care. This service not only provided essential care but also offered community members the opportunity to become Educators and manage their own businesses with the support of a Coordination unit.
Over the past 33 years, Boonah, Warwick & District Family Day Care has seen substantial growth and adaptation. We now have Educators operating throughout the Scenic Rim, Warwick, and other surrounding areas. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are governed by a Management Committee comprising community members, staff, past and present Educators, parents, and other community members. You can meet our dedicated committee on our team page.
Our service prides itself on maintaining a small, personalised, family-like atmosphere. The safety, happiness, and well-being of the children in our care are our top priorities. We ensure they thrive in a home-like environment, learning and growing through play-based educational programs—a true "home away from home."
Our office is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. We invite you to call, email, or visit us to discuss childcare options or learn more about becoming an Educator. Our friendly staff are always ready to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you.
